Dionysios Dance

The Dionysios Greek Dance Group is a self-taught, semi-professional folk group. Dionysios performs frequently at community celebrations, annual Greek festivals, church functions, and various other cultural events throughout the Rockies. Every member of the group is of Greek descent, college-aged, and attend the Holy Trinity Cathedral and Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Churches of Greater Salt Lake. Dionysios is also the parent group of multiple younger dance groups (O.P.A.) within the community. Dancing with Dionysios brings a great honor for every participant due to the rich history behind the group’s name and lasting presence within our community. Many current dancers have parents who also danced, going all the way back to the original group of 1972. The formation of these groups functions to teach Greek customs and traditions to the youth acting as cultural ambassadors for local communities when they perform these storied dances.
